Trish and I were invited by a good friend of ours who has a beautiful chateau (called "des Gadelles") next to Le Havre (in a town called St. Adresse) for a classy afternoon listening to a string quartet play some classical music at the castle.
The chateau itself was built in 1860, and located on top of a hill, it has a great view of the sea. The style of the castle is very unlike other castles in France. It's more like an English castle.
There were some 40 invitees, most of them castle owners.
This afternoon a prize winning string quarter played Mozart and Hayden for us.
They played for two hours.
In the castle, all the walls had been redone and repaired.
The castle really looks impressive.
There are some beautiful columns.
Downstairs, towards the entrance the hostess was serving delicious fingerfood and desert.
All the food was prepared here, the kitchen.
Last photo of the main stairs.
As you can see, life in Normandy is not easy. You get exposed to lots of culture, put on tons of kilos due to the excellent food and meet loads of new people. It's a tough life....
