On the 28th April, Trish celebrated her 50th birthday in style and with many friends. Some 60 people made the efforts, some coming from very far, to join her in her half century celebrations. We rented out the Donjon castle in Etretat for one weekend of fun, music, good food and great friends. Below you will find many, and I mean many, photos. The photos were made by many of the people present. They are stored on another server, Google's Picasa to be exact. When you click on one of the main gallery thumbnails, it will open a new window and show you thumbnails of the photos of that section. Instructions You can click on a photo to see that in a bigger format (and you can click on the magnifying glass to see even more details, or you can download the photo). If you hold your mouse cursor over one of the thumbnails, you'll be able to see all of the captions. If you're viewing the photos in larger format, you'll always see the captions. You can also click on the Sideshow button to see all the photos in that Gallery appear automatically. Many photos have captions, so you know who was where and when. NOTE: The 5. Party-Dancing gallery has 2 videos in it, while the 6. Party-Sunday has 1 video. They are marked as video, and clicking on them will show you the short video. If you want one of the photos in its original size, let me know, and I'll send it to you. Friday - Cocktails The Friday evening gathering was a way for people to get to know each other before the following day's main event. The hotel served great buffet food and drinks were a plenty. Some people stayed out until 07:00 !! Saturday - Preparation The main event was Saturday, and the place needed to be decorated. Christine Duboc had been responsible for decoration and she had done an incredible amount of work getting flower arrangements, table decorations, balloons and small table gifts. Judy, Yolande and Eva Marie helped out, setting the tables. Saturday - Drinks The festivities started with drinks, and a special presentation of a gift from me to Trish (for those of you who want to do similar, go to Give-a-song.com). It was also when the excellent and entertaining band, Friends, started playing their music. Friends are a special band, since they are a French group, but they play English songs... and they play them very well! Saturday - Dinner Part 1 Dinner was more or less formal, with an excellent menu prepared by the hotel. We ate a lot, drank a lot, and had three great speeches by Jean-Pierre, Jack and Davey (who also sang a Finnish song with his wife Elsa). The hotel had made a beautiful and great birthday cake, which when presented, was accompanied by the Friends band playing birthday songs. Saturday - Dinner Part 2 On each dinner table was a disposal camera. Everyone could take photos at the dinner table, so here are the photos of the disposal cameras: Saturday - Dancing The rest of the evening and morning was spent dancing! After opening some presents and a great presentation/song by Carl and the hidden pianist Judy, Friends started playing, and did not stop playing until the wee hours of the morning. Sunday - Brunch To allow people to sleep in a bit, we had organized a brunch the following morning. Since many people were regaining their way back home, it was an excellent way of saying good-bye. The weather started out foggy, but in between the clouds we had occasional sunshine, hot enough for the kids to go swimming. Food was excellent, and our friends, the Friends band, came back to play. After the meal, some of the people came with us to our house to look at the latest changes we'd made. And that concludes the party events. We really enjoyed the party ourselves, and hope you did too. Trish received many fantastic birthday gifts, but the best one was being able to celebrate with you all. We also want to thank Eva Marie and Christine for all their hard work, since it made it all really worth it. Also the hotel, and specially the barman Steve, and the music band Friends, made it all an unforgettable event. Thank you all, and see you when Trish turns 100!
