On Sunday, we received a phone call from J&B Batiment, the good folks who are going to do all the work on remodelling our shed and installing the garage, saying that they were going to start on Monday, 1 week before the schedule. It's always a good sign when a contractor starts early... However, the bad news had come the day before. We received a letter from the garage provider (they were supposed to deliver the following week) with a blueprint of the garage, asking us to sign the blueprint in order for them to start building the garage. Since it normally takes 6 weeks to build, and we had placed the order 2 months before, it was obvious they had totally screwed up. The idiots forgot to send the paper, so no garage was built, and now we have to wait 6 more weeks, which means a lot of problems in scheduling resources. If you're ever in the market for a pre-built garage, give Tickner a miss. We are very scared in what is going to happen, since they seem to be rank amateurs. So, on Monday at 08:00 the first workers arrived, and we had to remove all the stuff from the garage (tractor, barbecue), while the workers took care of all the rest. Within an hour, the garage was almost empty.
At 09:00 the reinforcements arrived. Very quickly, the shed was demounted. The rear was opened, and we forgot that there was no fence, so Beemer and Lipstick could go walkabout. So, the closed the rear up with some remaining fence. At 10:00, the garage was gone... Just before lunch, they cleaned up the place and went for lunch. After lunch, the heavy material arrived: Since there were several trees that Trish really wanted to keep, she asked them to transplant them. Since they are nice guys, they agreed, and appointed one of the workers as the "Gardener". Four trees were moved. Trish is happy... Tomorrow will see them clearing the rest of the ground for the concrete platform that needs to be put in place for the delayed garage. On the top left of this page, you'll see the webcam link.
