Early this morning, the sound of a heavy diesel engine was vibrating through the streets:
The garage had arrived !
WARNING: 32 photos follow, so it can take a while to load.
After some difficult maneuvering, they managed to park the truck in the correct position.
With the built-in crane they started off-loading the modules.
Eventually all the modules were off loaded.
The modules seem quite light, since 2 guys could carry them.
Each portion was placed in its allocated position.
Here's the module that contains the window.
They then proceeded to screw the modules together.
Nice job !
They continued putting all the modules together. This is one of the main doors.
Eventually all modules were put together.
They then off-loaded the roof modules.
In the mean time the roof part was being prepared.
Then the beams were off-loaded.
Roof bit going up...........
And its up....
And the other part...
Then the middle piece was put up.
This is France, so lunch is important. They fabricated a lunch table and seats, and had their prepared lunch (in cool boxes), and spent 1 1/2 hour eating and playing cards.
They then put the beams between the roof modules.
Interesting job...
More off-loading of roof stuff.
and the roof shingles...
The roof was stapled on (shingles get added tomorrow).
Here's a view from the street.
The firewood shed gets put up.
The garage doors get put up.
And the normal door is added.
Both garage doors are on now.
And a quick test before leaving for the day.
Here's a view with all doors closed.
And here's the view from the gate.
Tomorrow they should finish the garage (hopefully). The problem with a too big concrete slab will be solved by having the garage raised 2 centimeters and our other guys putting some silicon/cement/fiber paste between the walls and the concrete slabs. Let's hope that works.
