Wouldn't you know it, when I arrived back dead tired from Milan (bloody SNCF screwed up, delayed me 4 hours, arrived at 03:00 AM). The roof had arrived:
It was stacked in the garden, waiting to be put up.
One half of the roof had been removed, and they discovered some of the wood to be rotten, so had to be replaced.
Outside, they had put up all their gear on the street, and blocked the street for traffic.
They were busy removing the bad wood and putting in new ones.
Finally they started putting up the roof panels. The panels consist of hard board, with polystyrene filling. This means that I do not loose any headroom, and the heat isolation is far better than other methods. On top of the board, they'll put the roof slates. Of course it started a major rain storm, so they had to stop.
