Trish and I were supposed to leave this morning from Paris to Dublin. We were first to check in, and when I handed my passport, the lady said "sorry, it's out of date"... and it was, by ONE YEAR !!

So, Trish had to check in, and go to Dublin, while I paid a taxi €10 over the fare if he could get me to the Dutch consulate before 10:00 (they were closing for Christmas). He did exactly that, with God knows how many red lights run...

When they started printing the emergency passport, their one and only printer died !!! This delayed things even more (but at least it got produced at the end).

Next flight was at 16:00, so no rush anymore. Back to the airport, nice lunch, and now I'm in the lounge on the airport wifi....

What a way to start Christmas.. already €500 out of pocket. So next time you travel, better not only check you've got the paperwork, but that they're up to date !
