The Pool Has Arrived

Things are going quickly now. After the local civil servants approved our pool application paperwork in a record time, and after a few meetings and phone calls, things got off to a quick start.

Today the pool arrived, even before any work has started (this actual digging starts next week).

In gale force winds with rain and sleet, an enormous truck arrived early this morning. There was no way the truck could make the turn into the garden, so it parked outside:

The truck was totally filled up, but I was told that there were two pools in there, and we've only ordered one, so some other lucky person is getting theirs today.

The pool guys, while sheltered from the rain and wind,  watched while the trucker set up the truck:

The pallets were unloaded, one by one, and dragged over the road. That was the easy part:

One person to stop any racing car to crash into the pallet, coming in via the blind curve...

Next, they had to drag the heavy pallet over the gate threshold... not easy, but still easy compared to what was to come next.

Then via the small stones and into deep and soggy grass... not easy.

.. and then finally push it through the grass, leaving enormous marks (thankfully we're getting a gardener in afterwards), to the end of the garden.

And finally all pallets have been unloaded and stacked. Other bits are stored in the garage and "pool house".

Friday they come for a last meeting between the pool guy, and the builders. Monday is when the start preparing the grounds, cutting trees etc, and Tuesday, weather permitting, the excavating machines arrive....
